Frequently Asked Questions

How about food? Are there shops, restaurants, and pubs on the island?

Rerrin Village has a pub, a small shop for the essentials as well as The Bakehouse Café. There is a pub and restaurant, The Hotel, in the middle of the island. Click HERE to check opening hours for the food over the festival weekend.

Can I bring my car to the island?

Bere Island is serviced by two car ferries - click HERE for more details. It will be a busy weekend on the island so we are strongly encouraging people to car pool to reduce traffic on the roads and queues for the ferries (especially on Sunday afternoon when everyone is trying to leave). Parking is very limited at all venues and please keep in mind that the roads throughout the island are very narrow and you will need to be confident reversing.

Is there public transport on the island?

There will be festival taxi bus operating for the weekend. The bus will be based between the village, Wild Atlantic Glamping, The Hotel and The Heritage Centre on Friday evening, all day Saturday and on Sunday morning/early afternoon. The cost will be €3 per person per trip. Call Pat on 086 2660668.

What do need to bring with me?

The Irish weather is unpredictable and changeable, so first up we suggest checking the weather in advance and packing plenty of layers! You will be spending time outdoors and between venues so leave your high heels at home and pack comfy shoes, hat and a raincoat. There isn’t any ATM (depending on your bank, cash can be withdrawn from the post office during opening hours) or petrol station on the island, so please make sure you fill your wallet and your car before leaving the mainland. Some businesses take payment by card, but you will need cash over the weekend and if you are planning on using the festival taxi bus, please bring some change if you can.
