Exhibition / Kelp Cailleach – Rachel Parry
Thursday 18 – Saturday 20, 11:00–16:00 / Sunday 21, 11:00–13:00 Naval Yard Shed
Free / No booking requiredRenowned Beara visual artist Rachel Parry presents Kelp Cailleach – an evocative reinterpretation of Paula Rego’s Angel (1998). Blending sculpture and performance, this work calls attention to urgent ecological concerns. The Cailleach, a mythic pre-Christian figure tied to Beara, embodies resilience and transformation. In Parry’s work she is wearing a dress made from washed-up kelp and holds black-backed gull wings. Kelp Cailleach invites viewers into a space where ancient folklore, feminist symbolism, and environmental urgency converge – subtly, forcefully, and with deep relevance for our time.
